I grew up in New England and spent my summers working with my father as a carpenter and cabinet maker. I had always seen this work as a way to earn gas money through high school, but after entering Middlebury College to study Environmental Science, I discovered that I could use my construction background and environmental focus to inform a study of architecture. I took the liberal arts degree in Architecture, Art, and ES, and continued my studies with the rigor and discipline of a Masters of Architecture from Cornell.

Prior to starting Jopek Architecture, I worked in commercial architecture firms in San Francisco and continued to pursue small design-build and furniture projects on the side. At the end of 2019, I decided to launch my firm to focus on a design process that prioritizes asking the right question. I believe that early efforts articulating the purpose of a building project and refining the concept gives designers and clients a set of values from which they can evaluate later design options - the best designs are usually the ones that most simply and elegantly answer a thoughtful question.

Jopek Architecture is focused on providing individual attention to every project, such that the process is as gratifying as the results.
